MY EARLY YEARS IN ADVERTISING & MARKETING
Back in the late 1970's - early 1980's I designed lighting, advertising, specification sheets and display systems for Leiter-Lites and later Hargray Industries (I created the first mirrored bath bar and unique finishing techniques. I also created advertising for my family business (Mid-Island Lighting & Lighting Unlimited) and other lighting showrooms.
Starting with hand drawing (my skills increased over time), clip art and cut and paste advertising mats, all prior to computer generated ads. A Kroy Lettering Machine, a electronic Brother typewriter with changeable font disks and transfer type were my lettering tools.
I worked with Underwriters Laboratories in Melville, NY to create the UL Listing for track lighting and designed several products (some of which are still made today (the LT-210 Super-Lite is one of them).
I hope you enjoy this blast from the past...
